Whales lives in deep freezing water and are pretty big. so if they end up washing ashore their bodies are suddenly under a lot of pressure and they end up overheating, burning in the sun and being unable to move. So they can’t really survive very long out of water. they need to get back in the water as quickly as possible. Toxins build up from the reduced circulation, poisoning the animal. Out of the water, a whale's thick blubber can cause it to overheat. Like other mammals, whales breathe air, so they can drown when stranded if water enters their blowhole at high tide. They cant survive over two hours out of the water.
