The cumulus stage in air-mass thunderstorm development is usually
characterized by a strong updrafts throughout the cloud.
The updraft formed is usually as a result of the air being heated by the sun
and rising up. They are then cooled off and are involved in the formation of
the clouds seen.
In this stage , no precipitation occurs and the process is very common in
areas where the environmental factors favor the method of heat transfer
known as Convection.
