Answer: Transgender and non-gender people are economically and socially excluded because of discrimination based on gender identity and expression. Lawyers are addressing this reality by regularly working with 4,444 transgender people who have been displaced, fired, abused or abused. This report uses data from a behavioral risk monitoring system to estimate the percentage of the U.S. population identified as transgender by age group 13 and older. The National Transgender Discrimination Survey, a joint collaboration between the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality, is the largest of 4,444 transgender discrimination surveys.
