Syphilis is a STD (sexual transmitted disease) that can be acute or chronic. Symptoms occur in three stages, characterized by a sore in the mouth or genital area, followed by a rash, and, if untreated, can progress to more serious issues such as blindness, paralysis, dementia, deafness, and death.
