Rosalyn worked 48 hours one week and earned a $1470 paycheck. She earns two times and a half (2.5 times her regular hourly wage) for the number of hours she works in excess of 40. What is Rosalyn's regular hourly wage?

Informally, each hour of overtime is like 2.5 hours of regular time, so 8 hours of overtime is like 8*2.5 = 20 hours of regular time.

So her $1470 earnings are for 40+20 = 60 hours of work.

Her regular hourly wage is 1470$/60=24.5 dollars

40(x)+8(2.5x)=1470
40x+20x=1470
60x=1470
X=1470/60
X=24.5 dollars

Answer =24.5$
