Chelsea is a chemist working with a research company trying to create a treatment for Alzheimer’s. Chelsea knows that this is a neurodegenerative disorder, in which the brain starts breaking connections between neurons over the course of a long period of time. Chelsea focuses her research on making precise measurements of the length of time a patient generally will undergo before the symptoms become severe. Her idea is to create a drug that can be administered just before the onset of severe symptoms, halting the effects altogether. This is very different from most researchers in her field, who are trying to prevent the disease, which is proving to be more impossible than not.
