What differences exist in attitude between rangers of past times and those of the current day?

I believe in the past ranchers did not care what the reputations were hunting, trapping and killing wolves. Whereas now ranchers may still want to get rid of wolves, but they will only do so legally. I also believe that now ranchers would be more willing to work.
