1. Jesús Colón is trying to debate weather or not to help the woman and her two young children. He thought it was a good idea because she was carrying a suitcase and a baby but at the same time he wasn't so sure because he was worried about what the woman would think and if she was racist or prejudice. He even was afraid that the woman would try talk to him in mean ways or to discriminate him just because he was both African and Puerto Rican.
2. Colón had his reputation at stake in this decision due to what the woman would do exactly. Since he didn't help the woman he regretted it and believed he should have helped her even if it would have costed him.
3. I believe he wrote this story to explain that simple actions can lead to a huge change in the future. For example if you see some one who is mean and they need help and you help them then that one mean person can become a really nice person in return just from your actions.
4. I would have helped the woman even though the circumstances because no matter my skin color, reputations, or the way i look i would help anyone because they may not know but deep down i am a good person. And you should not judge a book by its cover.
5. I would not care what others think even though i might fell that its not my place to do something i would do it anyway because nothing can change me. Words may be mean but they can not hurt me.
