Deposition: Deposition is the laying down of sediment carried by wind, water, or ice.
Example: Pebbles flowing down a waterfall, and being placed down on the bottom of a bay.
Erosion: The geological process in which earth forms are being worn away and transported by natural forces.
Example: Rain, rivers, floods, lakes, and the ocean carry away bits of soil and sand and slowly wash away the sediment.
Weathering: The breaking down of rocks, soils, and minerals as well as wood and artificial materials through contact with water, atmospheric gases, and biological organisms.
Example: Wind and water cause small pieces of rock to break off at the side of a mountain.
