Islam is practiced mostly by Muslims and Muslims have a bad reputation for being terrorists. That is why their religion is so misunderstood. People prematurely judge them and place them in a stereotyped group.
The prejudice has always been around but it was really excelerated by the events of 9/11 and by the media’s negative portrayal of Muslims. People are always uneducated on the true practices and believe that it is not a religion that people chose, that actions are forced upon them, which is not true.
